Case Study: The Ohio State University Dry Room Project
Overview
dryR recently completed commissioning on a major dry room project at The Ohio State University. Working with general contractor Whiting Turner, AEI as the project engineer, and Fishbeck as the commissioning agent, our LDP units were installed and tested to meet stringent environmental requirements.

Project Requirements
- Zone 1: -70°Cdp supply, -60°Cdp return
- Zone 2: -40°Cdp supply
Commissioning Results
During commissioning, the dryR LDP units significantly outperformed the design requirements, even under varying occupancy loads:
LDP50-2DW (Zone 1)
- Requirement: -70°Cdp supply / -60°Cdp return
- Achieved with 2 people present: -85.5°Cdp supply / -68.4°Cdp in-room
- Achieved with 4 people present: -84.0°Cdp supply / -64.6°Cdp in-room
LDP30-2DW (Zone 2)
- Requirement: -40°Cdp supply
- Achieved with 12 people present: -72.4°Cdp supply / -51.6°Cdp in-room
Performance Highlights
- Both units exceeded Proflute’s leakage allowance and sealability standards.
- The LDP50-2DW achieved -85.5°Cdp at 100°Cdb, surpassing the Proflute simulation of -75°Cdp.
- Units demonstrated superior energy efficiency, with LDP50-2DW reactivation heater loads averaging just 90kW.
Client Feedback
Feedback from OSU, Whiting Turner, AEI, and Fishbeck was overwhelmingly positive. Key highlights included:
- Exceptional build quality and robust construction
- Minimal vibration and extremely quiet operation, even with large units
- Straightforward maintenance access
- Intuitive control systems that simplified commissioning
- Rapid pull-down to required conditions

Conclusion
The Ohio State University project clearly demonstrates the capability of dryR LDP units to not only meet but exceed strict performance requirements. By achieving deeper dewpoint levels than specified, maintaining energy efficiency, and ensuring operational ease, dryR delivered outstanding results that left all stakeholders impressed.
